Training of Non-graduates

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved the sum of N14 billion to train about 50,000 non-graduates of the N-Power initiative.

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar-Farouq, explained that the money would be used to engage four Federal Government agencies that would be involved in the nine-month training.

She said that at the end of the training, the beneficiaries would be handed starter packs to begin their own businesses.

Our Senior Citizens

The Honourable Minister also took time out to appreciate the Board of the National Senior Citizen Centre (NSCC) of Nigeria for the giant stride it has taken in the last one year. According to her, the centre has developed the desired coordination, collaboration, cooperation and communication to effectively and efficiently deliver its mandate to the Senior Citizens in Nigeria.

Grant for Vulnerable Groups (GVG)

The Grant for Vulnerable Groups Programme was introduced in 2020 to sustain the social inclusion agenda of President Buhari’s administration. I attended a media parley to the implementation of the GVG and it is consistent with the national target of lifting 100 million Nigerians out of poverty in 10 years.

The GVG is designed to provide a one-off grant to some of the poorest and most vulnerable women in rural and peri-urban areas of the country. The Beneficiaries of this scheme will be on social inclusion which 70% of the total number will be for women, while 30% will be for men. A cash grant of N20, 000 will be disbursed to poor women and men across the 36 States of the country and the FCT.

We have recently commenced another set of disbursement to various men and women across the country.
