6 (Six) Favourite countries that can win the African Cup of Nation (AFCON 2022)

The African Cup of Nations -AFCON 2022 kick off yesterday with the host Cameroon defeating Burkina faso by 2-1. Despite outcry over the spread f the deadly covid-19, organisers went ahead to stage Africa's biggest football tournament. The question on our lips now is who will win the AFCON for 2022?

6 (Six) Favourite countries that can win the African Cup of Nation (AFCON 2022)

I have compile a list of five favourite playing nations who i believe based on current statistics of there players and offcourse the prevailing covid -19test drama and the CAF new rules on covid 19 test report on players and there availability. Here I present to you the best six;

This may come as a surprise to many but they can repeat the feat of 2013 in south Africa here in Cameroun when no one gave them a chance. They have a pool of deadly and young strikers ready to go for the kill. From kelechi iheanacho, Chidera Ejuke, Chukwueze, Sadiq, Awoniyi, Moses Simon and host of others. Mind you none have tested positive to the covid 19 virus, so they still have there full squad unlike other teams whose ranks have been deflected by the covid 19 test.

Still fresh from winning the ARAB cup of Nations,  Algeria looks good to win and retain the AFCON title they won in 2019. They are still solid from back to front and are currently on a 34 match winning streak, and could break Italy's record of 37 straight international wins by the time the AFCON is over. The covid 19 hit the team as key players may be missing. Earlier this week, forwards Youcef Belaili and defenders Mohamed Amine Tougai and Houcine Benyada had tested positive at their training camp in Qatar. Despite the setbacks, they are still one of the favourites. They still have Said Benrahma, Ismael Bennacer, and offcourse Riyad Mahrez.

As host of the 33rd edition,they look set to win a six time crown. After missing out of the world cup, the country position its self for AFCON glory and could pull some surprises. They have hit players like Andre Onana, Vincent Aboubakar, Andre-Frank Zambo etc. But the covid 19 have also hit hard on them of which they won't be with the services of Eric Maxim Choupo Motin due to injury, while defender Michael Ngadeu Ngadjui, Midfielder Ierre kindle Malong and winger Christain Bassogog and back up keeper Jean Efala had all tested positive to the coronavirus.

No one give much attention to this country but they may pull the greatest surprise due to the availability of stars at there disposal. They reach the semi-finals of the ARAB cup of Nations and have important players. Morocco defender Badr Benoun is the only one in the team out due to a covid 19 positive test. Players that can win the title for them include Domain Swiss, Achraf Hakimi, Imran Louza, Sofyan Amrabat, etc.

The kings of the continent, Egypt boasts seven championships and will be looking to add their eighth title. Most of their squad play at home, with some players playing overseas. They are led by one of, if not the best player in the world, Mo Salah. The captain will be leading his side. Led by the experience of Carlos Quieroz, the Pharaohs will be tactically sharp and ready to go. The question is, can the supporting cast support Mo Salah?

No doubt, Senegal are the bookies favourite to win the competition due to there star studied team. They have never won the tournament and will be looking to break that jinx. But they have also been hit hard by the covid 19 as they won't be with star players like defender koulibaly and Chelsea goal keeper Edouard Mendy. But they still have Idrissa Gus he, Ismaila Sadr and offcourse danger man Sadio mane.

you can add yours on the comment section if you fell otherwise but above all we hope for a successful tournament.

Thank you
